California has a variety of ecological regions and environments.  To clear things up a bit first we have to make a distinction between ecology and environment.  An ecological region is an area where a group of all living things (animals, insects, plants, microbial life, etc.) interact to form an eco-system, whose function depends on the health of their environmental surroundings (air, water, climate, etc.).
Damaging or destroying any part of the environment will have negative impacts on the eco-systems functioning within that environment.  Review the following maps to see what California environmental and ecological region/s your animal inhabits.  Post your answer in the class blog.
